Hack Homelessness Showcase

On November 14, 2020, the six teams from Hack Homelessness presented the solutions that they had been creating throughout the entire week. Congratulations to the NIMBY Hackers team for their winning solution, From NIMBY to YIMBY: A Neighborhood App, as well as to the runner-up Belonging team!
The keynote speaker for the Showcase was Justice Louis Mauro, Associate Justice on the Third District Court of Appeal and Chair of the Work Group on Homelessness.
Hack Homelessness Opening Session

To kick off the second-ever Hack Homelessness design challenge, LexLab hosted an opening session to introduce the hackathon, describe the resources and mentorship available throughout the week, and begin the team formation process.

LexLab brought together a group of experts to discuss the state of the technology behind the creation of deepfakes, avenues of dissemination, and potential counter measures. The panelists were Shane Glynn, Adjunct Professor at UC Hastings; Kathryn Harrison, Founder & CEO of FixFake and the DeepTrust Alliance; Brandie Nonnecke, Founding Director of the CITRIS Policy Lab at UC Berkeley and Fellow at the Harvard Carr Center for Human Rights Policy; and Clement Wolf, Global Public Policy Lead - Information Integrity at Google.

Legal Tech Lightning Talks

Six LexLab-affiliated startups gave lightning talks about their companies, experiences in legal tech, and opportunities for students. From our spring 2020 cohort, we heard from Parley Pro, Lawgood, Theorem, and Tusk Legacy. They were joined by two startups recently founded by UC Hastings students and alumni: ProSe Claims and Rain Intelligence.
